Microsoft Defender for Endpoint on Ubuntu 24.04 – Part 1: Deployment, Onboarding and Live Response
Actualizado: hace 6 días
Estimated reading and study time: 45–60 minutes. Allow time to inspect the 48 slides and compare local checks with portal evidence. This estimate excludes reproducing the lab and waiting for installation, synchronization or policy delivery.
LAB-MDE-003 Part 1 follows Microsoft Defender for Endpoint deployment on Ubuntu 24.04, tenant onboarding and the observed changes in agent health and real-time protection. Use the walkthrough to understand which checks belong on the Linux endpoint, which belong in the Defender portal, and how a later Live Response session complements the earlier observations.
The evidence includes installation and onboarding steps, local health checks, Defender inventory and a later healthy Live Response session. Recovery cause, repeated stability checks, detection testing and licensing entitlement remain open. A separate Debian baseline prepares future work; it is not evidence of completed Defender deployment on Debian.
Related learning: For the separate topic of device identity, management and compliance, start with Ubuntu with Entra and Intune — conceptual guide, then compare the Ubuntu Intune enrollment lab. These explain a complementary management layer; they are not prerequisites proven by this Defender lab.
Official documentation: Consult Microsoft’s manual Linux deployment guidance and Live Response requirements and commands. For OS preparation, use Canonical’s Ubuntu Desktop installation guide and select guidance appropriate to the lab’s Ubuntu version.
