Endpoint management at scale: reducing the manual work behind Intune

Microsoft Intune continues to evolve from a device management platform into an increasingly automated endpoint management service.

For IT teams managing hundreds or thousands of endpoints, this distinction matters. Operational complexity does not grow only because more devices are added. It grows with every manual enrollment step, configuration exception, authentication dependency and administrative task that must be repeated across the environment.

The August 2026 Intune updates address several of these friction points with three particularly interesting capabilities:

• Unattended Remote Sign-InDesigned to support remote administrative scenarios where interaction with the end user may not be practical.

• Windows Autopilot Device AssociationExtends the possibilities for automating and simplifying how Windows devices are associated with the appropriate deployment experience.

• Enhanced macOS Settings ConfigurationContinues Microsoft's expansion of native management capabilities for Apple devices through Intune.

Individually, these may appear to be incremental improvements. At enterprise scale, however, removing even a few manual steps from provisioning, support and configuration can translate into significant operational gains.
